Our Coaches

  • Louise Campbell - Director

    Louise was an established member of the Scotland Senior Women’s hockey team from 2014-2023. She has represented them at both major indoor and outdoor championships and has 52 caps in her career so far. Previous to that, she has represented Scotland at age-group level, making the U16 team at age 13 and continuing through both the U18 and U21 teams before breaking into the senior team in 2013.

    In addition to her excellent hockey career, Louise has previous experience coaching different district teams. Currently, she is a PE Teacher at St George’s where she coaches the 1st XI team.

  • Rosie Hazell - Director

    Rosie has played high level lacrosse and hockey for the past 10 years, playing in international tournaments for both sports. Having been selected to represent Scotland in the U19 lacrosse world cup, Rosie decided to focus her attention on lacrosse. She got her first senior cap in April 2019 and went on to represent the senior team in the European Championships that summer.

    Rosie is a PE teacher at St George’s School where she coaches the 2nd XI hockey team and assists on various age groups through their hockey sessions.

  • Sarah Robertson

    Sarah has 169 combined caps for Scotland & Great Britain in hockey, achieving a bronze medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. She is an attacking player who is strong, fast and physical, key skills 3D skills, backhand hitting and passing/ vision.

    She grew up in Selkirk, Scottish Borders before studying Law at Edinburgh University and going on to be a professional hockey player in London.

    In her current role, she is Head of Womens Sport from Grays/ Gilbert and exceptionally passionate about helping Women and Girls from all backgrounds to break barriers and show them anything is possible, dream big!

    She played at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and has one eye on Paris 2024.

  • Amy Costello

    Amy has represented Great Britain and Scotland over 100 times. She is calm and collected defender, with exceptionally high ball pace.

    Originally, from Edinburgh she played for CALA and Inverleith before studying and playing at the University of Birmingham.

    She started training full time with Great Britain in 2016, at the same time as studying sport science part time with the hope of graduating in the summer of 2022.

    Amy achieved her aim of playing at a second Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022 and is focussed on Paris 2024, after being a travelling reserve for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

  • Laura Swanson

    Laura has been an International hockey player for Scotland since 2017. She plays midfield which displays her high levels of strength and speed excellently. She has a wide range of passing and elimination techniques which help her attacking vision.

    She is currently living in Hamburg and playing in the German Bundesliga for Der Club an Der Alster. Before moving there, she graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a First Class Honours degree in Law. Throughout her time there, she thrived under an all female coaching team that led us to 3 consecutive Scottish league and cup titles.

    She has travelled across continents making friends for life along the way thanks to hockey. She can’t wait to get on board with Building Better Athletes. She hopes to empower the next generation in our sport.

  • Sarah Jamieson

    Sarah has 67 caps for Scotland Senior Women. Highlights include representing Scotland at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018. and Birmingham 2022

    From Edinburgh and attended Portobello High School before moving to Dundee to study Law with Spanish. After she finished her Undergraduate degree and my Diploma she spent a season playing hockey in Munich before coming back to Edinburgh to complete her traineeship and qualify as a solicitor at TC Young LLP.

    She is keen to show the positive impact that being active can have on all aspects of life and she is passionate about helping girls find the sport or activity that is right for them!

  • Jika Nyirenda

    Jika is a current member of the Scotland Senior Women’s team. She is a fast, attacking player who is lethal inside the circle. Jika is currently the top goal scorer for Edinburgh University, her specialist skills are drag flicking, reverse hitting and deflections.

  • Katie Swanson

    Katie is a current member of the Scotland Senior Women’s team as well as Captain of Edinburgh University. Katie is passionate about sharing her game knowledge with the younger generation.

  • Bethan Mann

    Bethan has a long history playing hockey at a high level; she has numerous International caps representing Scotland at U16, U18 and U21 level. She currently captains Watsonian Womens hockey club who have won back to back Premier league titles as well as winning the Scottish Cup.
